Extreme Work Day

My job tends to go back and forth between boring and frustrating. Here are two fabulous examples.
Frustrating
Let's say I program my computer to know that A = B and that B = C. It now automatically knows that A = C. But then one of my contacts informed me that A no longer equals C. But A did used to equal B and B still equals C and A is no longer taught.
Solution: De-program A = B. Yeesh. I hate that kind of solution, but it was the best I could do so that current audits will work.
Boring
We have some forms being submitted online now. Because of very mediocre design, I have to open my notes page (and wait), even when I don't have to make any notes. Otherwise, although the form disappears from my inbox, it stays in my the inbox of my co-worker, as if it still needs work. And I can't just open it, I have to check a box and then click the update button, and then wait again. And then close the notes page and then close the form.
When I have twenty or more forms in a row that don't require any notes, my eyes start glazing over, and my brain oozes into a puddle of uselessness. I find myself in danger of actually nodding off. I try getting up to talk to people, but when I come back, it still feels like nap time at the desk. Today, my whole afternoon was basically a wasteland after that pile of forms.
I'm going to have to try something else, like standing up when I get to these forms. And maybe turning in a circle during the waiting (like the last round of round-robin ping pong) or something. Or wait until the end of the day or right before lunch to process the forms--but that's rude.

Today in dance class, we worked on the "spin whip," nicknamed the "elbow whip." It turns out you can lead someone to spin by getting her to walk forward and then getting one of her elbows accessible and pushing it back. Whoosh. And I got to see one dance student channeling another by slowly and gracefully crumpling to the floor when the instructor said he was going to play a "delightfully slow" west coast swing.

But my favorite thing today is that one of my readers has started her own blog. So fun!
