Movie: "Lost Highway"

livingdebToday I did forty minutes of gardening. I pulled 150 baby weeds out of the rose garden area. There were also three morning-glories sprouting that got to live.
I also yanked some more beggar's lice and some Johnson grass out of the front yard.
I also went to Target with Robin and actually bought things. They had fat-free whole-grain granola (Back To Nature). And decent energy bars (Odwalla). And scent-free highly concentrated laundry detergent (method). And transparent tape on clearance (Scotch). And we finally got rechargeable batteries and a charger.
I also ate and slept and read and watched a movie. The movie was "Lost Highway," directed by David Lynch. He uses the cheapest special effects of all to build suspense: silence and darkness. He also likes to start a new scene with a loud sound. This is one of those movies where it's very difficult to figure out what's going on, but at least the director seems to know what's going on, unlike with some movies where the director or writer keeps things vague by refusing to even make certain decisions.
Still, I don't like the characters well enough to want to watch the movie again. The key line seems to be how the main character doesn't like video cameras because he'd rather remember things the way he remembers them than the way they really happened. And then we have a little tromp through his memories.
I don't think I like David Lynch's work. I just keep thinking I do because I liked so many characters (for a while anyway) in "Twin Peaks." I especially liked how appreciative the detective was of Douglas firs and delicious pie. And the scene where he takes a drink of coffee and then spits it out and then says something like "Good coffee! Hot, though."
