Bar Is Too Low

I got an ad in the mail from a bank letting me know that now I can "bank with a conscience."
So what would a decently ethical bank do? Maybe not give loans to fossil fuel companies now that we know about global warming? Or to companies with unethical practices such as many private prison systems, ICE, Monsanto, etc.? Have special programs for people who are a good loan risk but don't look like one because of past problems?
Um, no. Here are the examples they provide:
Never will we ever...
* Open fraudulent accounts in your name
* Conspire to fix interest rates
* Charge you for car insurance you don't need
* Charge you pointless fees to bank with us
Um, thanks? I'm sticking with my credit unions.

on 2019-10-26 11:01 pm (UTC)I'm also reading books about or set in other countries. I'm not doing like some people I've read about who are reading one book from every country in one year. That's too hard! And that's not enough books! (Which single book would you pick as representative for the US!?) So I'm in my third year, and if I find a series I like, I read more books in the series, even though they're from (or set in) the same country. Movies also count. I read both fiction and nonfiction. And if I can't find any books, I'll make do with the wikipedia article.
