Bargaining with Credit Card Company

One of my credit cards is changing its terms to something I don't like, so I'm canceling it. I thought it might be a problem that my car insurance company refunded my remaining insurance payments to that card, but they just looked at my negative balance and said they'd send me a check.
Then I asked if they could transfer my rewards points to one of the other cards I hold with their company. The guy said no, but he could just give me enough extra points to bring me to the minimum amount to cash out a reward and send me a check. Yea! $25! The problem is I would have to wait up to thirty days to cancel my credit card to make sure this went through. I made a little noise about having had to wait on hold three times to cancel it this time and he gave me a more direct number for next time. The paper I wrote that number on is now wrapped around my card.
Victory is mine!
