CSA for me

What? CSA for Debbie? Have aliens taken over?
(For those who don't know, I don't like most vegetables. Because they taste gross. I'm supposed to be over that now, the way I'm over thinking that kissing boys is gross, but vegetables are way grosser than kissing boys.)
No aliens; I can explain.
Robin's CSA membership is expiring and so he's had to decide whether to continue it or not. (I forget what CSA means, but he can pick up a huge bag of pre-chosen local organic seasonal produce every two weeks.) It's kind of pricey, but he gets lots of very high-quality produce.
I said I would pay a small percentage of the price to be able to continue using some of his stuff myself. I am not that great at using up produce, but I have been doing better this year. I've been buying things with good prices and then mostly actually using them.
Since I actually cook with the one vegetable Robin doesn't like (squash) and I actually like the one fruit he hates (cantaloupe), we can share. Also, he's not a big user of potatoes.
So this week I've already used the two tiny squashes he didn't notice when he was picking up his produce (usually he puts all squash in the give-away pile in exchange for peppers or tomatoes or something). (I mixed them in with taco meat.)
I've also cut up the riper of the two "melons" he got, which turned out to be honeydew melon. I never liked that melon until very recently when I tasted one that was actually good. And this CSA melon is good, too. I'll be bringing it to work for lunch.
I'm also planning to help use up some of the potatoes, probably in potato cheese soup.
It really should not be shocking that I am using squash, melon, and potatoes in a single week. (And not only that, I bought romaine lettuce, green onions, and blueberries at the store.) (Not to mention grape juice concentrate.) (Also, I made more pumpkin butter today.)
Well, it's quite pathetic, but less pathetic than in the past. Don't worry, I still take a multi-vitamin!
