Review: "Crazy Like a Person"
Jul. 16th, 2008 09:12 pmToday Robin and I went to see "Crazy Like a Person," a play recommended by chikuru. It has all kinds of things that attract me to a play: it's recommended, it's close, it's affordable, and it's connected with someone I know. (Well, I've met her before and we have a mutual friend, so that sort of counts.)
It's also a musical, and the singing is done with opera voices, neither of which are my favorite. But it was fun. I would definitely see more plays by this playwright. There was lots of silliness, a serious problem, a serious answer (sort of), one good therapy session, and lots of opportunities for judging what's normal, what's crazy, and what's too crazy. Plus a few hints of silly choreography.
I really liked one of the costume changes: One character in sweats changes from her fuzzy slippers to crocs before she leaves the house.
To those planning to be in Austin this weekend, the show is playing for one more weekend, and if you make reservations, you'll get good directions to the theatre.
I'm still glad that I've resolved to see at least three live shows a year.
