I've been trying to think of what I'd be willing to sacrifice in my next job so I can decide what jobs to apply for. In the past, I wanted a fun job at my current employer (or other employer with the same or compatible retirement plan) without a significant pay cut. But now that I'm fantasizing about just plain quitting, it seems like maybe a compromise is in order. I don't want to jump out of the frying pan into the fire, but what counts as too fiery?

* More hours? How many more? Teaching would double my hours.
* Worse commute? How much worse? Having to drive? Having to drive to another town?
* More boring job duties?
* More boring industry?
* A higher proportion of people work to data work?
* More stress?
* Less vacation and sick leave?
* Lower pay? How much lower?
* Fewer stock options? (my little joke)

Today for the first time ever I did that thing where you act first and ask forgiveness later. I am turning into a bad girl. Next thing you know, I'll be sharpening my fingernails to points and painting them black. (And then wondering why I have trouble typing.)

Also, not for the first time ever, I did a fair amount of stress eating. I'm up to five (smallish) meals and one (biggish) snack. And it's only 7:00! There's still plenty of time for more eating.

Today I applied for a job where the sacrifices are boring duties and (probably) lower pay. Unlike most jobs I apply for, I might actually be able to get this job because my resume has lots of the same sorts of job duties on it.

I'm also thinking about one where the sacrifices are boring duties, less vacation, and no insurance for three months, but the commute and pay are better.

I'm sorry you have to go through this anguish and churn. But even if you get the interviews for the less-than-ideal positions described in the last two paragraphs, they don't constitute acceptance of the jobs, right? Just think of it as "investigative journalism."
