Big Storm Aftermath
May. 18th, 2008 03:13 pmThe day after I wrote about the big storm, I thought to bring my camera. There were still some interesting things to look at, but not much.
Here's a before and after picture. Mother Nature pruned, then groundspeople cleared it away. The day before, the leaves were a bright green, but by the time I took the picture they had dried to this grey-green. The cleaning tool of choice was leaf blowers, but I also saw brooms and rakes being used.

And here's one of the greenhouses. People are not allowed in until further notice. It looks like there are nice metal covers, which I'm guessing were not all rolled down during the storm. But I suspect it's unrealistic to close the covers every time there is a chance for hail or a tornado or something.

I tried to get a picture of the almost perfectly round softball-sized hole in a window, but it was already boarded up in such a way that you could no longer see the shape of the hole. In fact, all the broken windows I saw were covered except for the ones in the greenhouse.
