In response to Leo's movie meme, written by a rabbit, I now present the movie meme of my imaginary home schooling friend.

1. Literature

"Why do we need language?"
"To communicate..."
"Nooo! To woo women!"

"O Captain, my Captain. Who knows where that comes from? Anybody? Not a clue? It's from a poem by Walt Whitman about Mr. Abraham Lincoln. Now in this class you can either call me Mr. Keating, or if you're slightly more daring, O Captain my Captain."

"Dead Poets Society," identified by raaga123

2. Science

"Well, that went as well as could be expected didn't it, hmm? Though I might have to make a small adjustment to the drop, a touch painful on reentry."

"No fear, Gromit! Everything's under... [as he goes flying around the room] cont-whoooooooooooooaaaaaaaaa!"

"Wallace and Gromit in The Wrong Trousers," identified by raaga123.

3. Government - Executive Branch

"I don't want to tell some eight-year-old kid he's gotta sleep in the street because we want people to feel better about their *car*. Do *you* want to tell them that?"
"No sir."

"Dave," identified by raaga123

4. Government - Judicial Branch

"According to the testimony, the boy looks guilty... maybe he is. I sat there in court for six days listening while the evidence built up. Everybody sounded so positive, you know, I... I began to get a peculiar feeling about this trial. I mean nothing is that positive. There're a lot of questions I'd have liked to ask. I don't know, maybe they wouldn't have meant anything, but... I began to get the feeling that the defense counsel wasn't conducting a thorough enough cross-examination. I mean he... he let too many things go by... little things that..."
"What little things? Listen, when these fellas don't ask questions it's because they know the answers already and they figure they'll be hurt."
"Maybe. It's also possible for a lawyer to be just plain stupid, isn't it? I mean it's possible."
"You sound like you met my brother-in-law."

"12 Angry Men," identified by grieve

5. Government - Legislative Branch

"Why, you write ten times better than any man in Congress. Including me. For a man of only thirty-three years, you have a happy talent of composition and a remarkable felicity of expression. Now then sir: will you be a patriot? Or a lover?" - John Adams
"A lover." - Thomas Jefferson

"1776," identified by cartaufalous

6. Creative Arts

"Where do you think we'd be if everyone went around making up their own steps?"
"Out of a job."

"Strictly Ballroom," identified by pamwheatfree

7. Psychology

"What's the last thing that you do remember?"
"My wife."
"That's sweet."
"Dying."

"Memory can change the shape of a room; it can change the color of a car. And memories can be distorted. They're just an interpretation, they're not a record, and they're irrelevant if you have the facts."

"Memento," identified by indigo rose

8. Finance

"You think it looks kinda modest for the house of a nastily rich young widow. But you're just a low-rent flatfoot with whiskey breath and holes in his socks. What do you know about the rich?"

"You and I both know Peep is into stuff. She's the kind of person stuff was created for."

"I ain't your Knight in Shining Tin Foil. I'm in it strictly for the dough."

"Hey, Richard, I think your will's great. A little nutty, but great. But why now? You're in remission. You're not thinking about the big S?"
"Sex?"
"Suicide."

"A Gun, A Car, A Blonde," identified by cartaufalous

9. Religion

"Are you really the Devil?"
"Yes."
"Would you like some soup?"

"The Book of Life," identified by cartaufalous

10. Relationships

"I can't see anything that I don't like about you."
"But you will! But you will. You know, you will think of things. And I'll get bored with you and feel trapped because that's what happens with me."
"Okay."
[pauses] "Okay."

"Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," identified by cartaufalous

Try again with #1. You're right about #2, but I'm hoping someone will guess which Wallace and Gromit movie.

Oh, and with the extra hint, I see that #1 is "Dead Poet's Society".

I mean, "Dead Poets Society". Not sure where that apostrophe came from. :)

Strictly Ballroom.

I love that movie. A friend bought it for me a long time ago. I can't believe I finally know one of these. I only ever get to see obscure movies.

I thought the Wallace and Grommit was "A Big Day Out". You know the one where they fly to the moon to replenish their cheese supply.

#7 makes me want to guess "Dead Zone" but I haven't seen it in a long time and I wonder if it isn't something more recent.

I don't think I've ever seen "Dead Zone." #7 is from the year 2000. So, sort of recent, but not very recent.

Maybe "Hoodwinked". I can't think of another movie with storybook characters.

I know this movie. Isn't it called something like "A Car, a Dame, and a Gun"?
