Bath Mat

I just shredded our bath mat in the washer and am now on the lookout for a new one. Here's what we want:

* absorbent
* soft
* natural materials
* doesn't slide out from under you
* not so thick that you trip over it in the mornings
* washable

I normally get whatever's cheap and a nice color and cotton. Of course these stay damp a long time and pick up dirt and so should be washed. So I'm thinking of trying something pricier, hoping that it will hold up better. Or maybe I should hook my own rug; I used to know how to do that.

Hmm, actually, I could also knit or crochet something. You just take five or six strands of yarn and use gigantic knitting needles. I have learned that it's best to have all the strands made of the same stuff so that some of them don't stretch out more than others and cause extra little loops to wash out when you wash it.

And I just read about someone who tore old towels into strips and used them to braid a rug that she just loves because it's all soft and cushy.

Any suggestions?

I don't have your regular email address. This should work though.
