For only $50 ...
Aug. 14th, 2006 10:20 pmToday I did something I've never done before. I made a change to a plane ticket.
That's right. You heard it here first.
Now my sister is coming to the family reunion in Milwaukee, which she can't really afford. But the ticket was already bought for someone who really didn't want to go. So, for only $50, the universe has been properly re-aligned.
So, I was planning to pay for the plane tickets, the gas, the wear and tear on the car, and the hotel, so all she'll have to pay for is maybe some meals and any souvenirs. Perhaps nothing at all.
I don't think this is one of those fabulous once-in-a-lifetime opportunities she would have missed if I hadn't realigned the universe. After all, they seem to have one every year. If it's good, we'll all be going back (and this is already Mom's second time, so there's one piece of data), and if it's not good, it won't be any big deal to have missed it. Still, I'm glad she gets to come.
**
I also walked a lot today, making deliveries. It felt really hot but it was only 93 degrees (34C) when I got back. I also felt really used up, as if it were real exercise, sauntering across campus under the golden sun. Maybe I'm coming down with something. I should take some vitamin C. And maybe get to bed at a reasonable hour.
[For those of you from normal places, 93 degrees really isn't that bad for August around here. We've been having a high of 102 degrees (39C) for a week (or a month or two or whatever), but that didn't happen until late in the day. Many of you guys (in the northern hemisphere) have been having heat waves, but this is our usual August weather. And I even started off all frozen and everything because I had already been at work for 3.5 hours.]
