The Good and the Fun
Jan. 13th, 2006 07:48 pmHappy Friday the Thirteenth!
I was very good today. I did lots of things I didn't want to do. I went to the gym.
I finished going through a report of course inventory changes from the past month.
I called or e-mailed all eight people who I need to beg to do something in response to these changes (though I only left messages with most of them--where are all these state workers on a Friday afternoon before a long weekend? Oh, maybe on vacation.)
I recorded instances of something going wrong so I could bring concrete examples with me when researching why this thing is going wrong.
I ate an apple.
I cleaned out another folder and found places to store a couple new things.
I smiled at various obtrusive co-workers.
I refrained from playing sudoku at work.
And I talked my boss down from a threat to shoot a rubber band over his cube wall.
I also did some things I wanted to do. I talked to a friend of my sister's who rides my bus and works in the same building I do (many floors above me). We discussed important bus-riding issues such as which is the better bus to take. For example, right now the campus shuttle is running, but it has only limited service. I think this means there are only two buses on the route, and the route takes 35 minutes. Normally I guess there are three or four buses on the route. So, this morning he was wondering whether the shuttles were really running and whether there were really two buses or just one, or should he ride the city bus which will get him there later, but which is coming for sure right now. And where he catches the bus, the city bus and shuttle bus don't use the same stop like where I catch the bus, so he often ends up running back and forth between the two. This morning he chose the city bus and I chose the shuttle--he saw me as his bus went by. He got to his office about two or three minutes before I did.
I got to learn about a book by having someone tell me her favorite things about it. Then we looked into a dress shop and admired some things and snickered at others.
I had Mexican food leftovers for lunch and cereal for supper.
And I'm playing hooky from dance class with Robin. We're going to do something productive until 9:00 and then watch a video.
