Delectable Weather
Sep. 29th, 2005 06:27 pmThe weather this morning was delightful: cool and breezy. I actually jogged to the bus stop. It felt good. It's easier to have energy when the temperature is so delicious. I still didn't look very professional after Mother Nature had blown my hair all over the place and thoroughly intermingled it with humidity, but it felt good.
(I timed the light at my bus stop today. Just once, so I have only the one data point, but that's infinitely more than zero data points. The light was red for one minute and forty-five seconds. It sure feels longer than that sounds. It feels like three minutes.)
I also got to enjoy the weather during my weekly meeting with my boss. We always leave the office and go to the student union, but this time we sat at a table just outside the building and caught little seeds that blew out of the trees into our hair.
I enjoyed the weather during lunch, but not as much because I was distressed about having to stop payment on a check. That costs $25. But it has been a month since I sent it, so it must be lost somewhere. This was the check that was buying another year of service, and thus, unless they change the rules, a year of early retirement. I stopped payment on it even though I could have waited longer because I'd probably have to stop payment on it anyway, and that freed up cash for me to pay for my car repairs. My paycheck will probably be in my account tomorrow, which is when my car is predicted to be ready, but it's hard to get to my bank with no car on a day when I'm working at my other job. If my car really is ready, I can actually get to the shop before they close, because my other job never lasts all day. That would be awfully nice for a change.
I enjoyed the weather coming home, though it was no longer so deliciously cool.
P.S. Live Journal must have done something with their spell checker. Perhaps something fabulous. Yesterday I had no misspelled words according to them for the first time ever. (Normally I am informed that, for example, "don" isn't a word, although I think it's fine if it's within the word "don't.") Today it happened again. Then I deliberately misspelled a word, and this word was caught. It still can't recognize html words, though. So, it's not quite a miracle, but it still seems wonderful.
