This morning we decided to go to Castle Hill Cafe because today (not last Saturday) was graduation and they are open for lunch even though it's a weekend. So we were going to drive directly there.
But then one of the streets we needed was blocked, so we had to turn. So, we decided to go around.
Well, there must have been a running race or something in downtown, so there was no going around to the north. Seriously, we went all the way from Sixth Street to Guadalupe and they still made us turn back east.
So then we decided to go around south of the river and try approaching from the west if possible. This plan actually worked.
Except for the part about where the restaurant was closed. We never did call and confirm. We had both gotten distracted at work by, you know, work, and never called. But they were open last year at graduation and said that this was why they were open. I guess they knew about this race.
So then we decided to go to Four Seasons if we could. We got very nearby and parked at one of those places where you pay at a box. It was $5. The slot was so thin that we had to put each dollar bill in separately and had to fold them in half three times first.
So we walked over to the Four Seasons and found that their cafe was under construction.
They had another restaurant upstairs serving buffet breakfast, so we decided to go there. This plan worked!

If it ever becomes possible to live downtown for a reasonable point and I am thinking that this would be a good idea, remind me that no, it wouldn't. There are races all spring long.
However, this is another good reason to be retired. Then I could just go during lunch on a weekday, and there are never races during lunch on weekdays.
