Unauthorized Vacation Time

Yesterday R. brought his car home from the shop with a brand new master cylinder. And slave cylinder.
But the engine was wiggling funny, as if one of the engine mounts broke. And then the "Check engine" light came on.
The plan: We drive it and another car to the shop this morning, arriving at 7:30, to drop it off to be fixed. R. drives me to work, probably on time (8:00). R. drives himself to work, probably on time (8:30).
What actually happened: We drive the two cars to the shop. A guy drives the car around, looks under the hood, declares that he forgot to reconnect the vacuum hose, reconnects it, finds his check-engine-light-resetting device, and resets the light. R. drives to work and arrives on time. I know there is no parking anywhere near my job by this time (well, maybe some expensive parking), so I drive home and take the bus to work.
And that is how I ended up using 45 minutes of unauthorized vacation time. I could have taken a very short lunch, but I didn't want to.
