Yummy Party Food

livingdebForget what I said about party food on the 15th. Because I went to the annual party thrown by one of the colleges where they go completely crazy with the food, with everybody in the office bringing at least one thing, and then they invite a huge number of people over. The food may have been fattening, but it was delicious. I think much of it was home-made.
My favorite things were the meatballs in tomato sauce, the stuffed mushrooms, the enchiladas, the little sausages in barbecue sauce that you could smell out the door, the chair's homemade pralines, and the chocolate chip cookies.
But the best thing of all was this amazing pie. First, it had a real pie crust, probably made out of actual butter and flour. My pie crust is not this good--I use oil instead of butter because I'm lazy. Then there was a thin layer of something chocolaty, perhaps a dark chocolate custard. Then there was a thick layer of really good banana pudding, with no chemical flavors to it, mixed with actual slices of banana. On top was a thin layer of meringue, browned on top. It's like they couldn't decide what flavor of pie to make, so they made every flavor. Who knew chocolate banana meringue pie was one of the most delicious foods of all time?
