Cleaning House, One Square Foot at a Time
Oct. 22nd, 2006 07:32 pmThis entry is brought to you today by my blog buddy. (In other words: Boooooring.) (I don't suppose you should blame him though. Instead, read his entry for today, To Bob, which is much more interesting and has great pictures, too.)
Today I mostly cleaned up the area I'm using as a desk. I found the car registration thing that had gone AWOL and mailed that in.
R had a dream the night before last about Capitol Brasserie, so we went today. While getting the card so we could look up their phone number, I found the card from the lady who had come to make an estimate on replacing our air conditioner, but who has not e-mailed us. So I e-mailed her.
Those were the main two things that were bugging me about my broken house, the main two tasks I've been thinking I better get moving on. Also, I called in my prescription, which I've never done using this mail service, but it turned out to be very simple. I can call at any time because it's just a matter of punching in a bunch of numbers. It's interesting that you can say, "I'm ready for my next batch of pills now" with a long series of numbers (phone tree numbers, prescription number, birth date in numbers, credit card number, etc.).
I also made a new price book. I used to have a price book in my electronic organizer with prices from different places on things I buy. But those electronic organizers keep breaking, and they no longer make the kind I like, so I'm giving up on owning them. I had a big pile of receipts and so I used them to make the price book. Now it's in more of a "hipster PDA" format (note cards in a binder clip). (Except note cards are too thick, so it's on slips of paper inside one of the pill folders I keep getting every month. And I don't have a binder clip handy, so I'm using a rubber band.)
I also found the little notebook I got at nanowrimo last year and am going to use it to help me keep track of daily purchases.
All this new crap just barely fits in my purse.
I didn't do much on the broken weight front and nothing on the broken job front. But I did have a crazy decadent brunch and two walks in the lovely, chilly weather.
It's bulk trash collection time, and oh my, my neighbors have some bulk garbage alright. For example, there was a set of four matching dining room chairs in metal and vinyl. The metal was rusted. The vinyl was split on the edges. Each chair had two to four sets of duct tape patches. This was the general condition of the items I saw.
