Sad things

Sad things I would have learned today if I didn't already know them:

* Data entry on a slow web-based system is soporific.

* Forgetting to give the cashier the coupons you are holding in your hand throughout the entire transaction is maddening. But at the store I went to, they undid my stupidity at the service desk. (Actually, I didn't already know the second part of that, but I did guess it, which is why I got into the line and found out for sure.)

* Having a miscarriage makes people feel sad. And guilty. And their bellies hurt. And they're not really hungry. And there's not really anything you can do to help. But I did the hugging and the listening and the liaising with the parents and even brought over some groceries.

* When someone hits you against the side of the head with his arm that's in a cast, that hurts. (It was accidental.)
