It's 40 degrees outside (4 Celsius) and the vent by my window is still putting out cool air.

I've been keeping the vent on low, but I turned it off. It turns out the "off" position is just for decoration and is functionally equivalent to the "low" position. (The "medium" and "high" positions do put out more air.)

I've been feeling uncomfortably chilled, even with my two layers, and my hot chocolate, so I put on my scarf. Now everyone's asking me if I'm cold and volunteering information.

So I learned where a thermostat is that is rumored to control the vents in my and my boss's office. However, it is set at 71, which is fine.

I also learned from a co-worker who had an office here before the renovation that the vent always puts out cold air, especially in the summer. She recommended requisitioning a space heater. Uh, no. Enough tax payer dollars are going down the tubes as it is. And I refuse to use a space heater during the summer here; it's just morally reprehensible. My co-worker also said some people have gone so far as to wear fingerless gloves, as if this were even more drastic than requisitioning a heater.

The scarf is helping, but it's making everyone feel bad. Another person just came up and told me "you shouldn't have to wear a scarf at work." So I guess I should wear long underwear instead.

I feel like such a wimp. I'm fine outside when I'm walking somewhere. Either I get somewhere and warm up, or I keep walking and that warms me up. But sitting in front of a computer is not doing it. Even after yet another system broke, preventing me from doing yet another job duty; I did not experience enough rage to warm me up.

Oh, now the same person who pointed out a thermostat that controls the vents now says that the vent just pulls air from under the desk and shoots it up the window, so the proper strategy might be to turn up the vent, and shoot the cold air out of my cube (and displace some warm air that has risen). So I'm trying that now.
