Dave here: Lyn and I have an account that we put a bunch of money in years ago and have been continuing to parcel out money from it every year since then (usually less than $5k). I recommend it.
It is true that by using a credit card you get money back, but you can accomplish the same thing by just giving less--when you use the credit card, the charity has to pay a 3% overhead, typically.
