My story is the same. I started out using only one space, but then my typing teacher (in middle school with computer keyboards!) taught two spaces with harsh penalties for one spacing things. Now the double space is automatic. A lot of the the internet "fixes it" by just turning double spaces into single spaces without me having to do anything.
