I tried to accomplish the following between 5:00 and 7:00 pm today:

*Walk to bus stop from work
*Wait for bus
*Ride bus into my neighborhood
*Walk to gym
*Lift weights until I feel all used up (only about 15 minutes)
*Join friend for tail end of gym class
*Socialize and get ride to polling place
*Walk to end of line
*Wait in line
*Vote
*Walk home
*Ew, sweaty--take a shower
*Eat (thanks for making me dinner, Robin)
*Drive to nanowrimo write-in across town

I did not succeed. The main lesson, which I already knew, was to always vote early. I decided to time how fast the line at the polling place was moving. It took seven minutes to move the length of two parking places, and this is regular parking, not parallel parking. I thought it might move more quickly on the sidewalk than in the parking lot because the line might get narrower--I was right. Still, I thought of blowing off the voting, but there were a lot of really stupid ideas I had to vote against (and one or two good ones to vote for).

Nanowrimo update

Today I wrote 1783 words in 1.5 hours, mostly at a write-in, which is where several people doing nanowrimo meet and write. I got there late. There was plenty of talking, but I was still able to write. I listened some, but also missed some of the funnier conversation.

So I averaged 1162 words per hour, mostly because today's writing was sort of like one big soap box (cleverly disguised as dialog). It's so nice whooshing through the writing so quickly, though. I'm still a little behind, though scheduled to finish by November 30 again.

Sorry, too boring for an excerpt today.
