Doing Stuff, Day 1

livingdebYesterday I did, indeed finish knitting my little rectangle. It's fun to google knitting stuff because now you can find videos.
Then I started on a new rectangle using a new pattern I've never used before. It's turning out to be an interesting pattern (pictures when I'm done).
Also, I got out most of the ink that leaked into the pocket of my favorite coat and started washing it. This involves zipping out the dry-clean-only lining and washing the rest, putting it through the rinse cycle twice (the directions said three times, but, arg), not letting it go through the spin cycle, and then taking it out to drip dry. (These directions are all right on the coat.)
I also started sorting through piles of stuff in the living room. And finally moved some of the extra canned goods from the dining room bookshelf into an empty space I had made in the pantry last week.
Today I've done more of the same - did the second rinse cycle on the jacket and hung it to dry, knitted more rows on the second rectangle, and sorted through more papers, and tonight we're going dancing. Going dancing counts as doing something in a way that going to dance class just doesn't. It's much more fun.
We also went out for brunch, watched an episode of "Prime Suspect," and saw "The Golden Compass," none of which counts as doing something (mostly because I never have trouble finding ways to do those things), but all of which were fun. "The Golden Compass" did a good job of stuffing a whole book into a single movie and the actors do not disappoint. It's scary and exciting but everything happens much more quickly than in the book. No time to savour anything. Also, all the books are out, so if you want to know what happens next, you can just go to the next book.
