No Gym Membership: Day 1
Jul. 18th, 2007 07:55 pmTuesdays we used to go to Body Flow at the gym. This Tuesday D. was busy so R. and I were on our own. I decided to take him to the trail at the old airport. He decided we would wait until it cooled down. So it was dark.
We found the trail. We found the drinking fountains, still not working. Then we saw a lit tower and headed toward that. We never made it to the tower.
We found mud. We found sidewalks to nothing. We found buildings. Unlabeled buildings. With people inside. And medical equipment and balloons. Oh, right, the children's hospital.
We found a plaza with DO NOT ENTER tape across it. And several fountains and, uh, concrete streams (like they have outside Amy's at the Arboretum). And a manhole cover that screeched when we lifted it and led to just a valve, not a whole tunnel.
And we found a structure that looked like a maze of swiss cheese. Must be a playground. It was painted in bright colors. And sound did interesting things in there. I could hear footsteps, but not tell which direction there were going. And there were echos. We decided that if necessary you could lose someone in there, if only for a few seconds, perhaps while making a cell phone call.
Then we had to slog through crickets everywhere. Jumping. I was squicked out trying not to step on them. R. made fun of me. Then a cricket (or something) landed on his neck. Hah!
In conclusion, it was a success. We really did go exercise.
