Letter Writing Style
Sep. 3rd, 2014 10:38 pmWhoever trained the student who wrote me a letter today to start and end it with complimentary stuff should also have mentioned that the middle counts, too. When you lie repeatedly in the middle and also dis the person's entire job, you might not be making the impression you hope.
(My whole job is about helping students with "some obscure requirements.")
The letter made me angry and bizarrely childish. I kept wanting to say things like "If our degree requirements are too obscure for you, then just don't do them. I'm sure you're above needing a degree." Or "Why don't you just go back to the school you transferred in from?" Very helpful.
