Lunch Trip
Jan. 8th, 2014 10:24 pmToday's adventure of warmth was meeting an old co-worker for lunch on campus. I was good and brought my own food, too. We also went for a little walk. It was good to hear how many things are going well for her (except for the part about how she's still having trouble finding acceptable permanent work).
While I was on campus, I ran a few errands. I dropped off some packing materials for recycling at UPS. Also a return from LLBean. It's awesome that returns are so easy--they include a mailing label right in the package which is re-usable. But it's a UPS mailing label and there are no UPS offices near my house.
And what's the deal with button-up sweaters that have super-tight sleeves? I want to wear a shirt under them. And it's not like I have very big arms--what do regular-sized people do? I guess they are supposed to wear a sleeveless shirt (or nothing) under the sweater and just rely on the sleeves being stretchy.
I also took advantage of my current status as employed to check out a couple of Longmire books that are not available at my local library. They are not due until May, which is awesome. Of course they were on the sixth floor, so just getting to them warmed me up enough to last my whole trip home.
And I checked if my campus boss was in her office so I could talk to her about pay issues but she wasn't. I'm getting paid as if I'm working all the hours she reserved for me rather than just the hours I actually worked. I guess I will try calling her because the two e-mails aren't doing it.
And in tax-job news, I still don't have my ID, but I found out it's because I made a typo in my Social Security number on one of my forms. Embarrassing. That is now corrected.
Meanwhile, my boss still hasn't forwarded the e-mail about tomorrow's required training, even though I sent her a reminder e-mail yesterday. So I decided to call her (long distance) to get the information. And for some reason my cell phone is not where it belongs or anywhere else I can see, so Robin let me use his phone so that my call can be free.
For dinner, Robin took me out to the restaurant of my choice for my birthday. I have chosen La Palapa. It is just a regular Tex-Mex place, but they have my favorite enchilada plate--very delicious, not too greasy, and the beans and rice haven't been fancied up with added pork flavor or anything. Many other restaurants are better, of course, but we often go to those, so since it's my birthday, I picked this one. It's still good, but they covered the enchiladas with queso instead of cheese this time.
Then some TV.
