Today has been an excellent example of a good mix of activities. (Actually yesterday. Facebook didn't take this yesterday.)

Health

I did some things that are good for me. I brushed and flossed enough, I worked out to a pilates exercise video, I ate fresh cantaloupe, I worked out at the gym, and I got whole wheat burger buns to put some of the extra brisket on (mmm, chopped beef sandwiches).

Productivity

I did some things that are productive. I did laundry and dishes, as usual.

But I also got ready for tomorrow's errand run to UT so I can leave ASAP to stay as cool as possible--I got my library books together, the checks I'm going to deposit, and the change I'm going to turn into bills.

I made rough drafts of my resume and cover letter for another job.

I also checked something in response to Cabinets, Air, Light, where a guy who's fixing up a van to live in mentioned that the vent covers he got came with screens attached to the inside. Screens? So I removed the hallway intake cover for my A/C to see if it had a screen that should be cleaned. The answer was no. Sort of. There was no screen, but there were plenty of dust bunnies on the back of the vent cover, so I cleaned those off.

Socializing

I got in plenty of socializing. Robin came home with barbecue for lunch. I e-mailed some co-workers about visiting tomorrow--one won't be there, but we had a nice e-mail exchange. I talked to friends at the gym and Robin at the store and at home.

Other fun

Chocolate chips. Mmm.

I also achieved a small victory--I found some rules for a board game I got a million years ago that was missing its rules. I don't have the whole set of rules, but I got the start-up and how-to-win information from an introductory video by someone on Board Game Geek and I got the entire set of turn phases from someone answering questions on Board Game Geek, so it seems quite promising. I've been looking for years, and today that search finally worked. And it looks like "Moonshot: The Game" is actually a fun game, too. (If you know the game "Tranquility Station," this is the original version of that game.)

When I went to try out the rules, though, I saw that the rules were already in the game. Weird. They were right under the board, not even hidden, so I'm not sure why I thought--for years--that I did not have the rules.

Oh, well, that's good news. I tried out the solitaire version and barely won (due partly to good luck with the cards).

Other Days

In news from other recent days, I mended a hole in my favorite shorts. I don't know why that's so exciting. I guess it's a lot more fun to fix a hole and then magically have shorts that fit well and are a good color than to go try to find some more.

I also rebalanced my IRA investments. The big winners to be sold were my European and Pacific index funds. Yea for selling high and buying low(er)!

I also got the most poorly written e-mail response I have ever received in my life. The first paragraph had five things that started with a capital letter and ended with a period; only two of them were sentences. One of them I could not figure out the meaning of at all, which is quite unlike me, especially when I know so much context. (Which is why I suck at proofreading--I naturally know what people mean and often don't even notice that they didn't quite say it right.) Unfortunately this was a response to my question on whether it was safe to get non-UT jobs and still retire from UT. Let's just say I remain unconvinced and will seek only UT jobs.

I was home when someone delivered a package that needed to be signed for. I HATE those things. Who sends a package where you're never going to be during business hours and requires a signature? People who were outwitted this time, that's who! Mwahahaha!
