Replacing Lost Wallet Contents
Mar. 15th, 2010 11:02 pmTwo and a half months later, I've given up on finding my wallet. I have reported my two credit cards lost, timing it so I should have plenty of time after getting my new cards to re-direct my automatic payments.
I took a week of vacation (so I don't lose any at the end of the year) and have decided to use it to take care of irritants. Today I got a replacement for my driver's license--the office is open only during my work hours. I had thought that I had somehow not had my driver's license in my wallet, but the driver's license I had was expired.
Fun Fact of the Day - To replace a lost social security card you need proof of your identity (such as a driver's license). To replace lost a driver's license, you need proof of your social security number (such as a social security card). And proof of your identity (such as a drivers license, specifically, an unexpired driver's license).
In reality, I found today that an expired driver's license was all I needed for proof of my identity to replace my lost driver's license. I also had to wait in two lines. At the end of the first line I got a form and a number with an estimate of 6 minutes for my second line. Forty minutes later, I made it to the second desk where they took away the form and made me fill it out again in ink this time (hey, I only had a pencil on me--and about 20 probably-not-quite-good-enough pieces of ID I turned out to need). At least the long wait meant I wasn't so sweaty for my picture.
Also, I don't know how I got the wrong address on google maps when I cut and pasted it from the web page. I got to try a new bus route I'd never used before and then I got a nice, long walk.
Good thing I had a book with me.
