I saw a comparison of how Obama and McCain stand on the issues. McCain is not as scary as I thought. Obama is scarier than I thought. The sad thing is, they agree with each other much more than either one agrees with me. I am scared of both of them.

My biggest issues are: 1) Quit being the world bullies. I do like us being heroic, but it's more like a slapstick heroism lately. 2) Don't use tax money to reward bad behavior. I understand that now is not the time to balance the budget (this was one of the big problems during the Great Depression) but yeesh. Isn't there such a thing as going too far?

I don't see any other obvious presidential candidate to vote for either. I could research someone to write in.

I do know which major vice presidential candidate is scarier to me. Maybe that will decide how I vote. Because older people tend to be closer to death than younger people and black people, I'm afraid, are still more likely to get assassinated than the usual old white guys. Maybe I'll abstain from the president vote. I know! Unheard of. I'm still voting though, because my Representative is up for re-election.

I was shocked to read that the Chronicle endorses voting no on proposition 2 about never subsidizing retail in our town. The Chronicle is pretty left-wing and often endorses even stupid or not great things if they are just liberal or weird enough. (Well, movies, anyway.) Then I was surprised to read that a new law has already been passed that disallows subsidizing retail, so the only affect of this proposition would be to break our earlier (unpopular, but legal) commitments. Can that be true? And I thought it was illegal to break contracts. If it's true, I want to vote against this. (But I want it to only barely lose.)

I hate voting. Even when I know what I want, I don't necessarily know how to vote for it properly.
