So, another job I applied for has closed without anyone contacting me. When I figured this out, I got sad. But then I realized that about 2/3 of the jobs on that site disappeared simultaneously. For all I know, that job was already filled when I made my application.

Still, I've decided there are three directions I can try going from here (not necessarily mutually exclusive):

1. Network more. Some huge percentage of jobs (80%+?) are supposedly acquired via social networks.

2. Just do stuff. I don't have to wait until I have the right job to start making educational materials. If I just start doing stuff, then I can make a portfolio, and that would be good. Then they don't have to wonder if I have potential, blah, blah, blah. They can use actual data to help with their decision making.

3. Realize that my job does not have to be tied to what I want to do, it can be just a day job. When I put a little more energy into my job, I am happier with it.

These are all options I've known about before and haven't persued, so something is going on. I will explore each of these in a future journal entry.
