This morning I was fabulously productive. I worked on the garden, yanking all the plants out of a small area (again) and this time covering it with a thick layer of newspaper, then mulch. Then rocks. I want this to be a walkway some day, but if you let any air whatsoever get under the newspaper, all the weeds will grow back, except the good ones.

I also transplanted a sage that was a volunteer growing in our mulch pile, and two succulents, actually pieces of one plant which fell out of a pot and were still growing, so I gave them dirt.

So that was some good exercise. Then I cleaned and oiled the shovel, which was covered in clay. Then I took a shower. Then I did dishes, made pancakes, did dishes, and did laundry.

Robin was even more productive, getting caught in a one-more-thing spiral.

Then we went to a party thrown by some friends who just moved and are finally settled enough to have a big party. And they did. At one point there were probably fifty people. I got to catch up with some friends and learn a little bit about how various people's parents are getting along as couples. Also who can lift whom. An that utilikilts look wonderful for cha cha unless they are too big on you and your belt doesn't have enough hols, so you would never cha cha because it might fall off. In that case it's better to walk around subtly holding your kilt up with your hands from inside your pockets. I also got to see the queen of "Set" meet her match. She enjoyed not having to hold back.

I learned that if you want someone to come back to your party after they have left early that you should pick their pocket during the goodbye hug so that they have to return to retrieve their cell phone. (No, I did not actually do this. I'm sure it just fell out of the large utilikilt pocket all on its own. Really. You can trust me!)

I got to see some film of people in Mali. They have totally cool clothes. Also, they know how to do lots of things totally by hand.

I also got three kinds of brownies and a fresh grilled burger on a whole wheat bun and a root beer and some mini ice cream bars and some cheese and other snacks.

On the way home on the side of the road I saw a mattress, a car, and a tire. Robin saw a deer.

PS: LiveJournal's extremely mediocre spell check recommends "audiologist" instead of utilikilt. That's the first choice. Audiologists look good for cha cha unless they are too big on you. And cell phones slide of the pockets of audiologists. Either that or ideologists. Or maybe alkaloids.
