I'm Going to Go Read Now

1. My friend who didn't want to write me a reference wasn't dissing me. She just thinks writing reference letters for anyone, no matter how awesome, is hard. She said she actually wouldn't mind just getting a phone call; it was the letter-writing she was thinking of.
R. and I explained to her what my other commenters said about how hiring managers don't expect you do know if the person would be good at that particular job. They just expect you to know if the person is always absent or stalks co-workers or has other big flaws that don't necessary show up on a resume or in an interview.
2. I went to a free staff appreciation lunch today. No, I do not know where the money came from.
The lunch was pretty tasty. The speech was at least short.
3. I taught another person what ultimate frisbee was. He plays golf.
4. I want to go read some more of my (borrowed) book now. What trick does my favorite character have up his sleeve? What is the only other guy who knows what's going on going to do about it? What extremely dramatic and exciting thing is the girl going to do when she finds out what's going on? And are the future victims going to nuke their would-be conquerors? And do I want them to?
