Probably Missing Work
Feb. 15th, 2007 08:17 pmToday we had a users' group meeting which was apparently very motivating because I answered call after call for the rest of the day. So I just barely got down a draft of the minutes and sent out the hand-outs to those who missed the meeting. So now I won't feel bad about missing work tomorrow.
R. got the flu at the beginning of the week, but not me, because I'd gotten a flu shot. He probably got it from ballroom dancing, and dancing is like sex. You haven't just danced with the people you've danced with, you've also danced with everyone they've danced with. So I've danced with everyone R. danced with. Convincing evidence is the nastily strong perfumy smell I had to wash off my hands afterwards.
So if the vaccine didn't cover that flu, I would have gotten it too.
Instead I got a bladder infection on Monday. Fortunately, there's a drug store right across the street from my workplace and I walked my achy body over there and got some cranberry pills which kicked in within an hour. So all week I've been feeling a bit weak and thus saving my strength, drinking plenty of fluids, and eating plenty of cranberry pills. When I get home I just want to sleep.
Yesterday I got a sore throat. This was R.'s first flu symptom and often the first symptom of colds.
So I think tomorrow I'm just going to stay home all day and sleep as much as I want to and catch up housekeeping stuff. Unless suddenly I feel well. Then I will cheerfully go to work.
I will once again not be trying any ultimate frisbee pick-up games this weekend, though there's a juggle fest and a roller derby garage sale I might try to make it to.
