The good luck all started when I woke up healthy and safe.

Okay, I'm going to edit out most of my good luck so this doesn't become ridiculously long.

This morning the temperature was not in the thirties with strong winds leading to a wind chill factor in the teens. Instead it was quite reasonable even at nine in the morning and there was no wind at all until the second game. I ended up taking off my hat. And my gloves. And my top shirt that was under my team shirt. And my second to the top shirt under my team shirt. And I pushed up the sleeves on my other shirt that was under my team shirt.

The first game we ran up quite a lead. Then the other team came up from the rear and kicked our butts. Then at the last second we barely won.

I got a breakfast taco.

The second game we were behind for the entire game until the very end. This is the game where I touched the disk. I ran up to it and slapped it down. I don't know if anyone on the other team was placed to catch it or not, but either way, I did save us some yardage. We have now played this team the most of any team and joke about challenging them to another game.

I got a mini sandwich and two mini protein bars.

We had some awards. Each team got to give two awards. They were open-ended and thus some of them were funny. Sadly I can't remember any of them now except the ones my team got and one something like the "oh my god he's only eighteen" award, for a very fast eighteen year old. One person on my team got the "After You" award for showing up for every game but not playing much because he would always say "After you." The "I'm open! I'm open!" award went to me. Since the award was a sparkly blue frisbee, I of course had to run up and say, "I'm open! I'm open!" and then when my captain threw to me I caught it and everything.

The third game was with the team where I know someone. We didn't guard each other much because we were playing mostly zone, but that's okay because she's too fast for me. We did warm each other up during a stack once though. I think they got to a four-zero lead. Then we caught up to them and passed them, but they stayed with us.

Suddenly someone was down, in a lot of pain, with his ankle in a new shape you do not want to see your ankle in. Someone said to call 911, which got the attention of a doctor who canceled that request. She pulled the guy's foot back into the proper alignment, wrapped it up tightly, and had him taken to a hospital. Someone drove his car back to his house for him. He seems very well taken care of, but that expression of pain was just heart rending. And the expressions on people's faces as they saw the shape of his foot were scary.

Uh, then we played another point to win the game. We all got more team t-shirts, but this time in black with something about winter league champion on the back. I am going to wear it to job interviews! Maybe not. We also got stickers!

Then we came home, took showers, ate supper at my favorite Mexican food place which is in our neighborhood. Then we went to the winter league party for a while but never quite got into any conversations until we left and had a lovely conversation with one of our most favorite team members out on the sidewalk in front.

Now we are sore but uninjured. And our activities for tomorrow require very little moving and allow for very cushiony shoes, so we are all good.
