Weird Weather
Jan. 12th, 2007 10:16 pmToday was a beautiful fall day. It was warm, overcast, misty, and smelled good. There was a delicious light breeze. Leaves are still on the ground. But I have an iris blooming, which is a spring flower.
Tomorrow is supposed to be pouring down rain throughout the winter ultimate league games. They don't cancel games for rain--the motto is "No whiners, no cry babies, and no prima donnas." Did I mention that we're playing winter league because summer league is too hot for us wimps? Oh, well. They do cancel games for pouring down rain. But it would be sad to miss this week because this is the one week we start late (we get a bye) and the one week I'm playing a team with someone I know. Who I think is back in town and everything.
Sunday night it's supposed to freeze.
Monday we're supposed to get freezing rain, then sleet, then maybe even snow. They love to forecast snow in this town because they hardly ever get to. Then it's supposed to freeze Monday night and Tuesday night too, with possible icy conditions.
Normally I don't mind that kind of nasty weather around here because they close things down and I don't have to go to work. But I already have Monday off anyway because it's Martin Luther King's birthday, and I have an appointment with city inspectors Tuesday morning who also won't have to go to work if it's icy.
So, it's weird weather and poorly timed weird weather as well.

There's some kind of sealant on my new furnace that still hasn't dried. When I turned on my furnace to test it just after it was installed, a nasty smell and haze filled the house. I turned it back off and aired out the place. R. says it will be fine once the (extremely thick) layer of goo dries. We can tell if it has dried because by then it will be all clear instead of partially white.
It will be quite disappointing if I don't get to use my furnace during our little three-day winter we're probably about to have.
