Be Nice To Debbie Day
Aug. 17th, 2006 06:11 pmIt must be Be Nice to Debbie Day today. Here is my evidence:
1) Free breakfast for everyone at our user group meeting. Today I had a very delicious egg and potato breakfast burrito and a chocolate coffee cupcake. I don't like coffee-flavored things with two exceptions, and this was one of them. (The other is coffee-flavored Belgian chocolates.) Actually I don't like the coffee flavor in these things either, but they are so delicious otherwise, that they are yummy anyway.
Then there was a lot leftover so I had another breakfast taco and another muffin.
2) After helping some folks with their system, they insisted on taking me out to lunch. At Brick Oven Pizza, my favorite pizza place. Mmm. And one of them made me taste her spinach and artichoke heart pizza. Mmm. Have I had enough calories for two days now? Yes, I have.
3) Then after lunch, they insisted on driving me back to my office. My office is about an 18-minute walk from their office, and it was rather horrifyingly hot today, and my muscles were aching from earlier exercise, so I was glad to get this ride.
4) After helping some other folks at another far away office (a fifteen-minute walk), a co-worker was driving by and stopped and offered me a ride, and I took it.
All that, and it's still only 6:20.
I have to run off now. I'll be on vacation through the weekend. I'll be at a reunion and traveling. If I'm having too much fun to write, I'm not going to write. And I won't sacrifice my sleep to do it either, because my flight returns to Dallas at 9:00 pm Sunday (at best), after which I ride back to Carrollton and then drive back to Austin, and then have to be at work the next day. If I'm going to be driving in the middle of the night, I'm going to be well-rested.
So, for the next few days, no news is good news.
