Today I caught up on my finances. That involved speaking to three people, waiting on hold for a long time the last time, to cancel my "Buyer's Confidence" subscription. The first month I thought it was part of a large purchase I had made. The second month I noticed the evil pattern.

Their records show that I made a verbal request (after they called me) that they send materials, which I suppose could have happened. This means you instantly get charged $11.95 every month until the end of time. Uh, no. They tried to talk me into changing my mind. No. They tried to say that it's only free for 30 days, so they could only take off one of the two charges. But the person on the phone didn't really care that much and pretty quickly promised to remove both charges as well as cancel the service. I'll find out for sure at the end of the month.

Then I started over with the same company to request delivery of a check for some of my accumulated rewards. I did learn to just press zero as soon as I'd entered my information to get directly to someone.

My sister and I had to cancel our weekly dinner, but I got a letter from my brother today, so I spent some quality family time reading that and writing him back. He'd like to become a computer trainer at a community college or technical school or something. That might be a good idea.
