Excitement and Adventure
Sep. 26th, 2005 08:52 pmExcitement and adventure on the job! I had to do a calculus problem. I knew I needed to take an integral; could I dredge that knowledge back up out of my brain? Yes! A good thing, too, because it didn't come back to any of my co-workers, and I was at a job where we needed it. No pressure or anything.
Excitement and adventure on the road! Car overheated. Couldn't get the oil cap off! Manly man walking by couldn't get the oil cap off! So he went and got his big wrench and that took care of it. Tomorrow I'll get to the mechanic and see if I ruined anything.
Excitement and adventure in the head! I just took my sixth ibuprofen. Usually one works. But the one I took at breakfast didn't work. Nor the mid-morning one. Nor the lunchtime one. The mid-afternoon one didn't last the rest of the day. So I just took two more. What is the underlying problem? Most of the reasons I can think of seem less likely today than most days. All but stress. I think I can reduce that for tomorrow.
Also, it was just as hot today as yesterday. It's actually partly because of which side of the hurricane we're on. Fortunately it's cooling down to reasonable temperatures (mid-seventies) overnight. (During normal weather when the high's hit 100, the lows are around 80. So with high's in the mid- to upper-100's, one might expect lows in the mid-eighties. But, no, we're good.) So it's still safe to venture out in the early morning.
Today I paid attention to whether there's a good bike route to the job I went to today. It's only about three miles away and fairly flat, so that should be okay for someone like me (except in the dead of summer like today). It's perfect with a bike lane or super-wide non-busy streets or good sidewalks. Except for one area that is grassy and steeply sloped into a ditch. This area has also been under construction; maybe when they're finished, it will be fixed up for bike riding too somehow.
