Almost

I almost finished making an iPod case today. I finished all the knitting and just have to do the sewing. I'm still hoping it's wide enough.

I almost got the book I wanted out of the library. It was supposed to be available (and not checked out) at two branches. I went to one of the branches and they didn't have it after all. As I was leaving to try the other branch, I saw that it was 4:40. That's one of the branches that closes at 5:00 and probably stops checking out books at 4:45.

I almost went dancing, and even noticed the time in time to get there, but I still hadn't made brownies like I wanted to. This was the test run of the oven part of our "new" stove, and when set at 350 degrees, it appears to heat to 400 degrees. Crunchy brownies are pretty good, too, though.

I almost got this entry up in time to officially still be today.

Shaping up

Today I learned that thirty minutes of scrubbing the floor counts as exercise. I know this because of how I feel the next day.

The house is really starting to shape up, too. I've been enjoying the clean kitchen with all working appliances by cooking in it (and cleaning up afterwards). I've been enjoying the clean dining room by playing big sprawling solitaire games on the table.

Robin continued his garage overhaul. And mowed the front yard. Heroic.

I worked in the yard for about an hour. Part of the yard looks nice. The sidewalk part! Actually, lots of nice things are blooming in the front yard. Most of these drought-tolerant plants are nevertheless lovers of rain and they are celebrating like crazy the rain of the last couple of weeks.

This evening we relaxed in front of an old favorite movie, "The Zero Effect." It's about a person who's amazingly good at his job (private investigation) and a mess in his personal life. It's silly and great fun.
