Fifteen Minutes of Cleaning
Aug. 10th, 2005 10:22 pmHow much cleaning can you get done in fifteen minutes?
Normally in this situation I do dishes and laundry. I know what tools to use, how to use them, where to find them, and where the clothes and dishes go. Not the most fun, but nice and straightforward.
Today I decided to spend fifteen additional minutes doing things I didn't feel like doing. Here's what I got done:
* put away some books I have extra copies of or have not yet read
* evaluated two newspaper articles and filed them
* found a place to store a bag of candles where they won't melt and where I can take advantage of the nice scent (sock drawer)
* found a place to store my stash of hole-punched paper that's blank on one side
* took the empty banana bread container out of my backpack and brought it into the kitchen
* put my umbrella and bus schedule back into my backpack
Then for fun we watched "The Bicycle Thief." This is supposed to be some kind of classic movie. It does do a good job at explaining what it's like to be desperate in a depression without showing actual starvation. However, it's not actually all that fun to watch for some reason. (Except when the little boy is running to keep up with his dad--he's so cute. Also, the hair is all very interesting; bigger and with more personality than I expect from hair.) This movie is probaby good for when you're feeling poor and want to feel rich.
