Boring Plot, Good Plot
Jun. 26th, 2007 12:10 amAt work, two units have merged and they are making a new records system to house all the information in one place. However, due to requirements of the Higher Education Coordinating Board, the NCAA, and other certifying agencies, our office still needs to be able to differentiate between the two kinds of courses. I got to go to a meeting and explain that, in addition, for those courses that last a semester, I need the unique numbers to really be unique. For those that can last more than a semester (such as correspondence courses which one may have nine months or more to complete), the unique number system can't work anyway, so pseudouniques are fine.
I don't like being so deep in the bureaucracy that this all makes perfect sense to me.
We're going to have meetings about this every six weeks for a while (cue snoring sounds).

After work I got to watch "The Usual Suspects" which I still had never seen. Yeah, that's a good movie. It's interesting all the way through.
I saw another movie I enjoyed this weekend: "The Illusionist." I was afraid to watch it after having seen "The Prestige," but I liked it. I wasn't sure I'd like Jessica Biehl, since I've seen her in only one role before, but she's just fine. Both "The Usual Suspects" and "The Illusionist" are movies with good plots. Watch them when you're in the mood for thinking.
Grieve wrote today about side projects he'll never finish. I have a lot of side projects and goals I'm making virtually no progress on myself, but I am definitely achieving the goal of seeing enough movies this year. I have the somewhat arbitrary goal of seeing at least twenty-six new movies each year, and I've already seen twenty-four.
